As more traditionally Afghan products are now being produced outside of Afghanistan, in places like Pakistan or India, we aim to bring visibility and recognition back to the original makers. We want the world to see the unmatched quality, talent, and cultural richness that Afghan artisans, especially women, bring to their craft.
Through the Heritage Collection, we create dignified, home-based work opportunities for women across Afghanistan. With a growing local team on the ground, we’re committed to building long-term structures that support not only employment, but also independence and creative ownership.
Beyond fashion, our broader goal is to invest in educational and perspective-building projects, to help sustain not just a craft, but a future. Aql&nafs is about reimagining what fashion can do, when it gives back, empowers, and stays rooted in meaning.
Each of our collections serves a different purpose. Together, they allow us to balance authenticity, design quality, and long-term social impact.
The Heritage Collection is entirely handmade in Afghanistan by women artisans using traditional embroidery techniques passed down through generations. Due to limited access to materials and production capacities on the ground, it is not currently feasible to manufacture every design, particularly those requiring minimalist, tailored cuts, specific fabrics, or larger quantities, within Afghanistan alone.
That’s why we introduced the Contemporary Collection, produced at a trusted workshop near the Mongolian border in Asia. This allows us to work with premium materials, scale responsibly, and keep waste low through a made-to-order model.
Importantly, a portion of the proceeds from the Contemporary Collection directly supports our work in Afghanistan, helping us create long-term, stable income opportunities and invest in future artisan-led projects rooted in heritage and dignity.
Pieces from the Heritage Collection are limited and only available while stock lasts. If available, they’re ready to ship within 2–3 business days, with delivery taking an additional 2–5 days, depending on the carrier and destination.
For Pieces from the Contemporary Collection, please anticipate a production time of approximately 10-12 working days followed by an additional 2-3 days for shipping.

Our main shipping hub is based in London, with occasional fulfillment from a small warehouse in mainland Europe. Orders within the EU and the UK are shipped without customs fees.
The Heritage Collection is handcrafted in Afghanistan and pre-produced in limited quantities due to the highly time-intensive process . To avoid long waiting times and honour the craftsmanship involved, we pre-stock a small number of one-of-a-kind pieces. Logistically, importing from Afghanistan is complex and requires careful planning. This is why we keep stock ready, while still keeping quantities limited and intentional.
In contrast, the Contemporary Collection is made to order at our partner workshop in china near the Mongolian border. Once completed, items are shipped to us and then forwarded to you. This slower process allows us to minimise waste and overproduction, while still offering a wider range of modern silhouettes rooted in cultural inspiration
